This character, a cybernetic enhanced super soldier, is a persona taken on by gamers who play this first-person shooter. The original character description called for someone like Clint Eastwood – a man of few words, but harsh actions. Master Chief hardly speaks in the series, and his face is never seen. These are reasons that some critics complain about the character, but are also reasons that some say the character worked so well. A character with no voice or no face can be anyone, including the millions of people who played the Halo series.
Halo 3 became a symbol of the acceptance of video games in the entertainment and pop culture world. The Master Chief was considered a new millennium celebrity, described by the creators of the series as a blank slate to which any gamer could add their personality. Because of this Master Chief was what ever anyone saw in him, the best of their own personal opinions of their heroic qualities. Who could beat the popularity of a star that was exactly the ideal of each and every person who saw him?
Is Halo 3 game out? Duh. It certainly is. If you haven’t played it, or any of the other games in the Halo series, pick them up. Something this popular, beloved by so many millions of people, must be good.
