Halo 3 Screenshots

Don’t you just love a good screenshot…

When a video game series is as popular as the Halo series, including Halo 3, then it’s bound to result in many screen shots. This article focuses on weird and wild Halo 3 screenshots.

Before mentioning the Halo3 screenshots specifically, let’s take a look at the numbers that generate all of this media. Over 8.1 million copies of Halo 3 have sold to date. That means if each person who purchased the game plays for only 10 hours there are more than 81 million hours of game time from which to select screen shots. A lot can happen in 81 million hours, and with all the picture uploading websites available to people a lot of it has been documented.

One of the issues in Halo 3 that has often been documented in Halo 3 screenshots is the identity of Master Chief – more specifically what his face looks like. If you use Google to look up top 10 weirdest Halo 3 screen shots, or inside a helmet, you’ll find a picture of Master Chief laying dead on the ground, clearly showing no face inside his helmet. This explains why we never see his face, say many commenters, because he actually has none.

Another of the Halo3 screenshots featured on the top 10 weirdest Halo 3 screenshots is that of a Marine getting hammered on floodgate. Someone comments Oh that it looks a little bit like Han Solo when he was frozen in Carbonite. They’re absolutely right.

The makers of Halo3 decided to make it much easier for people to take Halo 3 screenshots, and to share them all over the Internet. To accomplish this they created a saved films feature right inside the game. This feature allows players to slow down the action, or even freeze it, then change camera angles and move the camera around to get exactly the screenshot they would like to see. Overall the Save films feature records all the action that takes place inside the game, so it can later be turned into videos are screenshots.

Another feature that has a little bit to do with Halo 3 screenshots of the save films feature is a game viewing of saved films. The saves are not just images or video, they’re actual game data. This means two things – the file size is very small, and the entire game can be watched from different angles on the Xbox 360. That means a person could watch a game again and again, finding new things in new places every time they watch. That’s a lot better than simple Halo 3 screenshots.

Frag Carefully,
Michael
