Halo 3 Costumes - Booo Scary Stuff & Headshot Helmets …

Posted by Michael under Main Content

Hi,

Because of the popularity of Halo 3 and Halo series overall Halo 3 costumes are quite popular – for Halloween, for trade events, and for wearing at LAN parties. This article discusses not only where to find some Halo 3 costumes but how to make your own.

Of course the most obvious of the Halo 3 costumes is taking on the persona of Master Chief, the faceless hero of the entire Halo trilogy. It’s not surprising that people would want to be the Master Chief, because as the creators of Halo stated he is a blank slate onto which people can put their faces and their personalities. That’s what happens when they dress as him with Halo 3 costumes.

Exactly what would someone have their Halo 3 costumes look like if they want to be Master Chief?  If you play the game Halo then this is an obvious answer.  Master Chief wears green futuristic armor and Halo helmet with a shielded faceplate.  Of course the costume could also be red or blue, as depending on which side you play in the game that would be your color.

Such Halo 3 costumes aren’t very expensive – a full adult costume with helmet can run under $100. For more detailed collectors costume, which are truer to the in game look of the character, people can pay as much as $1000. Such costumes, however, are generally worn by professional actors when they play the part of the Halo character, possibly Master Chief,  at public events.

As far as homemade Halo 3 costumes are concerned many people have made them. They generally consist of various pieces of body armor painted into the colors of the desired Halo character – often green, red, or blue.  They will also often include ammunition pouches as well as hand detailing to make sure the armor looks like it does in the game.  Some people have achieved amazingly authentic looks by combining real-world combat armor with their artistic abilities. Many of these handmade Halo 3 costumes can be found on the web pages of various Halo teams such as the 405th infantry division.

Some people seem to enjoy making or wearing Halo 3 costumes as much as they enjoy playing the game. When something is as popular as the Halo series, that type of thing can happen. You may not want to wear the Halo 3 costumes, but if you haven’t already done so, give Halo 3 and the entire Halo series a try.

Frag Carefully,
Michael
