Skate 3 Announced - Due For May 2010
Ever since the release of the first Tony Hawk game, the market was ruled by them, until the release of the first Skate title. However, once EA released their revolutionary Skate game, which used analog controls, they dominated the market. After releasing their sequel, Skate 2, they gained yet more of the market share, but will this be maintained with the release of Skate 3?
EA have revealed some video game news today that the new Skate 3 game is in production for the Playstation 3 and Xbox 360 and is due for release around May 2010.
Not a huge amount was released about what new features the game would have, simply that Skate 3 will be a more team focused game. With new co-op features, you will be able to team up with other gamers, either online or offline, to create your ultimate skating crew. Once you’ve got together a perfect team, you and your team can take part in group events and special career challenges.
Some of the current features such as the Hall of Meat and Create are also on the list for some additional improvements. Not to mention a brand new training feature, School which will allow you to practice before you go against the pros.
All this is very good, but does it stack up to their competition? Ever since that release of the original Skate game, EA has controlled the market, but this might be about to change with the new Tony Hawk: RIDE game. The new Tony Hawk game will change the way we play skating games because it comes with a Wii Balance board style skateboard controller. I just wonder whether if the Tony Hawk skateboard controller works well, will Skate and EA suffer as they are only improving basic features and not including much new.
Many people choose to not buy video games as much and then sell them after they have completed them and they are not worth playing again, I wonder if Skate 3 will be one of these games.
One thing that I know is that I will want to find some game reviews before I get my copy of Skate 3, unless more new features are announced.
